EURID Announces Fee Reduction for .EU Dispute Resolution
Eurid, the company behind .EU domain, announced today that the fee for a basic .EU Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedure will be cut by 50%.

“The fee for a basic .eu Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedure will be cut by a further 50%, according to the .eu registry EURid and the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC), the institution appointed to rule on Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings for the .eu top-level domain.
The announcement heralds the third year in a row that the cost of .eu ADR proceedings has been reduced.
“The continued reduction of ADR fees will further help rights holders to overcome the financial barrier that prevented them from claiming their rights through .eu ADR proceedings,” commented Czech Arbitration Court Board Member, Petr Hostaš.
EURid’s General Manager Marc Van Wesemael added, “At EURid, we want anyone with a legitimate prior rights claim to be able to challenge a .eu registration. Making the .eu ADR process more affordable, and therefore accessible, is one way of doing this.”
Why ADR
People can challenge a .eu registration if they believe they have a prior right to the domain name and the current holder has registered the name for speculative or abusive purposes. EURid offers the fast and convenient .eu ADR procedure through the independent CAC specifically for this purpose. No travel is required as all cases are conducted online and by email, and in 24 official EU languages. Cases take an average of four months to resolve.
EURid appointed the CAC in 2005 as its ADR provider. In order to make .eu ADR decisions, the CAC selects one or more panellists from its list of 112 accredited international experts.
In numbers
Since the ADR procedure first became available in 2006, 686 cases have been filed – of which 51 in 2013. The ADR panel accepted 35 complaints last year, 10 are still pending. More information about the terms and conditions of the new .eu ADR price structure is available at eu.adr.eu.”

.LUXURY And .BUILD On Their Way Online To Serve Luxury And Construction Sectors
The gTLDs .luxury and .build moved a step closer to being available online with ICANN delegating the strings.
The gTLDs offer uniquely different options – .luxury being the first ever namespace to offer registrants a digital platform catering solely for the opulent and premium market, offering a dedicated digital platform for all things luxury, while .build aims to serve the online needs of the building industry and beyond, from toys to towers. The delegation of both gTLDs was facilitated by ARI Registry Services.
“Domain names have traditionally been positioned as low-cost commodities and there has never been a dedicated space for luxury goods providers to accurately position their brands or products,” said Jeremy Ebbels, General Manager – Registry Services – Global Division at ARI Registry Services, on congratulating .luxury on the achievement.
“The .luxury Top-Level Domain fills this gap in the market and offers an Internet experience completely devoted to the luxury customer. It’s designed to meet the distinct needs of the luxury industry.”
Meanwhile .build is aimed at a totally different sector. “The launch of the .build Top-Level Domain will be a game-changer for contractors, designers and engineers seeking to carve out a niche online presence,” Ebbels said.
“We know the building and construction industry has enormous potential online and is currently underrepresented in the digital sphere.
“An Oxford Economics report found the global construction industry will grow by more than 70% to reach $15 trillion by 2025. The .build namespace is perfectly positioned to service this dramatic growth.”
George Minardos, CEO at Dot Build, welcomed the announcement.
“The .build Top-Level Domain will be more than just another generic domain namespace; it will be an online community dedicated to serving builders through enhanced search, website design, news, information and virtual markets,” Mr Minardos said.
“We are excited to be part of creating an online community designed specifically for the building world. Our aim is to create the most authoritative location on the web for content related to the building and construction industries.”
“For the first time in Internet history anyone who builds anything can get a specific domain name which will say what they do. With a .build extension, both a website and an email will communicate instantly a company’s function in a way a .com, .net or .org cannot do.”
Monica Kirchner, CEO of Dot Luxury, welcomed the announcement that their gTLD had been delegated.
“.luxury provides a truly comprehensive online platform, one never before available in the luxury market,” Ms Kirchner said.
“The .luxury Top-Level Domain will be an effective way for business owners to clearly convey an online association with the luxury marketplace. It will offer registrants a unique place on the web to transact with targeted consumers and benefit from robust search capabilities as consumers look to purchase luxury products and services.
“There will be no better place to search the web for premium quality goods and services than under .luxury.”
