New .Poker Domain Name Launched
Afilias announced recently the first phase of the introduction of the new top level domain name .Poker. The first phase is for the eligible trademark holders and is open from February 5 through March 7,2015.

“Global registry services provider Afilias today announced the first phase of the introduction of a new generic top-level domain for one of the world’s favorite card games: “dot POKER” or .POKER. The first phase is the “sunrise” period, which is limited to eligible trademark holders and is open from February 5 through March 7, 2015.
.POKER is the first and only Internet domain dedicated to the game of poker. It is the most logical thus effective web address for anything and everything that has to do with poker – from gaming to news, tips, or products.
“Poker is one of the most popular games on the Internet today, and now there is a dedicated space on the Internet for all aspects of poker,” said Roland LaPlante, CMO of Afilias. “.POKER is an easy-to-remember web extension that will resonate with poker fans, gaming entities, tournament organizers, product manufacturers, news sources, and just about anyone involved in the game of poker.”
.POKER Registration Schedule
• Sunrise:The notice period of the .POKER sunrise period has begun. Sunrise runs from February 5 through March 7, 2015. During sunrise, domains will be awarded in a first-come, first-served manner; however, eligibility during this period is limited strictly to trademark holders whose marks are registered in the Trademark Clearinghouse.
• Landrush:From March 10 through April 9, 2015, the public can “put a stake in the ground” and apply for the names they want. Their applications will be finalized after the landrush period ends; and names receiving more than one registration will go to an auction process.
• Open registrationfor all will begin April 21, 2015.

Currently, .DVAG, .TUI, .SPIEGEL, .ALLFINANZ and .FLSMIDTH Registry Agreements require country and territory names contained in specific internationally recognized lists to be withheld from registration or allocated to the registry operator at all levels.
As required by the RSEP, ICANN has undertaken a preliminary determination on whether these RSEP proposals might raise significant competition, security or stability issues. ICANN’s preliminary review (based on the information provided) did not identify any such issues.
Following ICANN’s preliminary determination that the proposals do not raise significant competition, security or stability issues, it was further determined that the change would require a material change to the respective Registry Agreements and that an amendment is needed in order to effect the change.
The proposed amendments, which are being posted for comment, would allow the registration of country and territory names at all levels in .DVAG, .TUI, .SPIEGEL, .ALLFINANZ and .FLSMIDTH TLDs. It should be noted that as of 20 November 2014, Specification 13 is granted for both .TUI and .SPIEGEL and as of 18 December 2014, Specification 13 is granted for .FLSMIDTH, whereas Registry Agreements for .DVAG and .ALLFINANZ do not include Specification 13 provisions in place.
