IDN TLDs – LGR‬ Procedure Implementation – Guidelines for Designing Script-Specific Label Generation Rules (LGR) – Now Open for Public Comment

Purpose (Brief): ICANN is releasing for public comments a set of documents that present an overview of the tasks of a Generation Panel. These include:

 

  • Guidelines [PDF, 946 KB] and Considerations [PDF, 193 KB] for designing script-specific Label Generation Rules ( LGR ) for integration into the root zone,
  • A summary of the Requirements [PDF, 198 KB] on format and contents for submitting an LGR proposal.

The overview and guidelines are based on the prescription in the “Procedure to Develop and Maintain Label Generation Rules ( LGR ) for the Root Zone With Respect to IDN Labels” [PDF, 772 KB] (the Procedure) and are intended to supplement the Procedure, not to replace it as the authoritative prescription of the process. Community members are invited to provide feedback.

New gTLD Domain Registrations Pass 4 Million in 11 Months

There are now over 4 million domain names registered across over 400 new gTLDs that have entered General Availability

 

According to ntldstats.com, there are now 5,057,199 registrations.

.XYZ is the most registered new gTLD with 767,012 domain name registrations. The second most registered new gTLD is .网址 (xn--ses554g) with 354,418 registrations, while the thrid most registered new gTLD is .Club with 165,541 registrations.

Five new gTLDs have over 100,000 registrations :

.XYZ – 767,012 registrations
.网址 (xn--ses554g) – 354,418 registrations
.Club – 165,541 registrations
.Berlin – 155,422 registrations
.Wang – 109,345 registrations

Seven domain names have between 50,000 and 100,000 domain name registrations :

.Realtor – 90,396 registrations
.Guru – 79,601 registrations
.NYC – 66,716 registrations
.OVH – 56,504 registrations
.Link 54,452 registrations
.London – 54,002 registrations
.Photography – 50,993 regitrations

ICANN : Annual IDN ‭ccTLD‬ Fast Track Process Review

ICANN is opening a public comment forum for the annual review of the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process.

 

The input received will be used to determine appropriate updates to the current version of the Final Implementation Plan of the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process (FIP) and for the proposed IDN ccTLD policy [PDF, 376 KB], which is currently under consideration. Community members, technical community, and specifically those who were directly involved in the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process, including requesters, public authorities and end users of the delegated IDN ccTLDs, are kindly asked to provide feedback on their experience in the process.

.World – 5,081 Registrations on Day One Of General AVailability ; .Degree – Only 160

Three other new gTLDs entered General Availability yesterday. After the first 24 hours of General Availability, there were 5,081 .World domain names registered.

 

.Degree had 160 registrations after the first 24 hours of General Availability,while .Gives had 158 registrations after the first 24 hours of General Availability.

These numbers also include registrations from Sunrise and Landrush period.
