Liao.com Sells for $100,000 at NameJet

Liao.com domain name just sold for $100,000. Liao means “chat” in Chinese.Back in November ,2012, Liao.com was sold for $118,888 in another Namejet auction, but most probably the buyer never paid for the domain name.

According to whois records, the domain name was first registered in 1996.

Xiao.com also sold yesterday for $67,566 at NameJet.

NameJet features other “Asian” domain names,including : Ching.com (current bid $6,600), Tsui.com (highest bid $260) and Yim.com (current bid $15,000).

ICANN : Draft Criteria and Process for Selection of Multistakeholder Ethos Award Pilot Program

ICANN invites comments on the draft criteria and evaluation process for a pilot award program to recognize ICANN community participants for both multistakeholder collaboration efforts as well as years of service.

Called the ICANN Multistakeholder Ethos Awards, the pilot program will seek to recognize one to three individuals or organizations that have demonstrated service to the ICANN community as a whole. The ideal winner or winners will have served in leadership roles for multiple ICANN working groups or committees and collaborated with more than one supporting organization and/or advisory committee in a significant capacity. To be eligible, the recipient must be able to demonstrate participation in the ICANN community for at least five years total.

We propose that the current chairs of the Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees rate the nominees using a merit-based point system evaluated against three criteria:

Demonstrated multistakeholder volunteer service via working groups or committees. (Maximum points: 10)

Demonstrated the spirit of collaboration as shown through empathy and a sincere desire to engage with others who do not share interests or viewpoints. (Maximum points: 10)

Demonstrated facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair, cordial and collegial manner. (Maximum points: 5)

All comments and replies will be read and considered. A final criteria for the pilot program will be published on or around 24 February when the call for nominations opens to the public.

The Multistakeholder Ethos Award pilot program was announced during the Opening Ceremony of ICANN’s 48th Public Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Public Comment period is open from 6 – 27 January; the Reply period is open from 28 January – 17 February 2014.

Gucci Wins The Rights to 182 Domain Names in One UDRP

Gucci just won the rights to 182 domain names in a single UDRP. The complaint was filed with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center on November 13,2013 against Brian E. Nielsen of “Boise,New York”.

This is one of the highest number of domain names transferred in one UDRP. However, Gucci is used to these kind of cases. In June,2013, Gucci also won the rights to 165 domain names in a single UDRP,such as : bestguccijapan.com, globalguccijapan.com, guccihick.com, guccihomebiz.com and oneguccijapan.com.

All the domain names included in this case followed the pattern GucciBy…jp.org .
