Donuts Will Open 15 More Domains By End of February

[news release] Donuts Inc., the largest registry for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), will continue its assertive expansion of Internet namespace by opening 15 more domain names for general availability by the end of this month. Among those slated to go live in February are .TIPS, .TECHNOLOGY, .CAREERS, .VOYAGE, .DIAMONDS, and .KITCHEN.

 

Donuts made its first domains available to the public on January 29, with the launch of .BIKE, .CLOTHING, .GURU, .HOLDINGS, .PLUMBING, .SINGLES and .VENTURES, and will continue weekly rollouts of new domains throughout 2014.

“Each new public launch brings us closer to a vision of an Internet addressing system with the specific and relevant online naming options for people, organizations and brands to use to identify themselves,” Donuts co-founder and CEO Paul Stahura said. “By the end of this year, there truly will be a domain name for everyone.”

Marlboro Files UDRP Complaint For MarlboroApp.com Domain Name

Marlboro has recently filed a UDRP complaint at the National Arbitration Forum,asserting legal rights over MarlboroApp.com domain name .

 

Marlboro owns many trademark registrations for the “Marlboro ” mark all over the world.Therefore,it is more than obvious that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.

The company filed the complaint with the National Arbitration Forum on 4th of February,2014 .

According to whois records, the domain name was first registered in July,2013.

The National Arbitration Forum will examine if the domain name is confusingly similar to the trademarked name.Moreover,it will examine if the owner of the disputed domain name has rights over it and if the domain is being used in bad faith.The domain name will be passed over to Marlboro if it falls under all three of these stipulations.

The case is still pending compliance checks with the National Arbitration Forum.

Mississippi.Com Domain is Now Up for Sale

Statement from the I* Leaders Coordination Meeting, Santa Monica, 14 February 2014

Leaders of the organizations responsible for coordination of the Internet technical infrastructure (loosely referred to as “I* leaders”) met last week in Santa Monica, California, USA. During the 2-day meeting, they discussed activities underway and exchanged views and updates on a range of topics including:

 

There was discussion of the significant progress and momentum that has developed since our last meeting, and as well as the need for continued engagement of all stakeholders in evolution of the Internet ecosystem. The leaders were encouraged by the progress made in many areas, and note that there is a lot of work happening in our respective communities, driven by the participants and handled with the usual community processes.

The meeting also welcomed Kathy Brown, the incoming CEO of the Internet Society, and Carolina Aguerre as a representative of the ccTLD registry community.
