Go (Do)Nuts In July With 29 New gTLDs

Donuts is set to launch a total of 29 new gTLDs in July – 17 will commence General Availability while 12 will hit their Sunrise phase for early registration by trademark holders.

Included in this month’s launch is .services, .city, .guide, .church, .finance, .deals, .university and .pictures.

With July’s launches, Donuts, the largest registry for the number of gTLDs applied for, will have 139 new gTLDs under management and will continue releasing new domains on a weekly basis throughout 2014.

Donuts and a number of other providers of new domain names have sold almost 1.5 million new domain names since the program formally launched in general availability last January.

“There is no better testament to the great, global demand for this program than the uptake it has enjoyed among consumers,” Donuts co-founder and CEO Paul Stahura said. “Consumers are showing an early preference for these new domains, since the names tell you more about the website you’re planning to visit, and they’re easier to remember. Perhaps the thing people like best is that these new domains are more like natural language.  And that’s the way technology is headed.”

Stahura has particularly strong expectations for .SERVICES, a Donuts gTLD that entered Donuts’ Early Access Program on July 2 and will be available at normal pricing July 9. “The little talked about .SERVICES gTLD has the potential to have wide appeal in a service economy,” he said. “Interested registrants should contact their registrars now so they don’t miss the valuable names in this gTLD.  There is only one day left before its debut at regular pricing.”

The new gTLDs available in July are being made available according to this schedule:
