.PARIS Registrations Are Now Open
Afnic, the company behind .FR extension , announced that as of September 9th 2014, anyone with a geographic, cultural or emotional link with Paris, can apply for a domain under the new Top Level Domain .Paris.

“From September 9th 2014, anyone with a geographic, cultural or emotional link with Paris can apply for a domain name under the .paris Top Level Domain.
After the launch of the first names of the 100 .paris ambassadors on June 4th, .paris enters into a new registration phase.
From September 9th to November 11th 2014, applications for .paris are open to trademark holders, companies and public administrations from the Greater Paris Area (Région Île-de-France) who benefit from a priority over other applications.
Registration is also open to individuals but, at this stage, their applications will be handled after applications made by trademarks and right holders.
On December 2nd 2014, reserved names during this sunrise period will be activated and .paris will be available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis: all those who love Paris will be able to get their own .paris domain name!”
ICANN: Auction for 3 Contentions Sets Slated for 17 September
ICANN, through its auction service provider, Power Auctions LLC, will facilitate an Auction on 17 September 2014 to resolve string contention sets for three (3) new generic Top-level Domain (gTLD) strings, BUY, TECH, and VIP. Twelve (12) applicants are expected to participate in the Auction for their respective applied-for strings.
Within seven (7) days after the completion of the Auction, the results, including a results report, will be posted to the Auction Results page of the New gTLD Microsite.

First Day New gTLDs Registrations : .Digital 2,648 , .Finance 1,057, .Insure 788 and .Accountants 371
Four other new gTLDs (.Digital, .Finance, .Insure and .Accountants) entered General Availability yesterday.
2,648 .Digital domain names have been registered within the first 24 hours of General Availability, 1,057 .Finance domain names were registered in the first day of General AVailability while .Insure wound up with 788 registrations and .Accountants wound up with 371 registrations.
At the time of writing this article, .Digital ranks as the 131st new gTLD, while .Finance ranks as the 189th new gTLD,according to ntldstats.com.
The numbers also include registrations from Sunrise and Landrush period.
