CENTR elects new Chair of the Board and Board members

CENTR today (19/3) announced that its 53rd General Assembly has elected Giovanni Seppia (.eu) as Chair of the organisation’s Board of Directors, as well as Elisabeth Ekstrand (.se) and Danko Jevtović (.rs/.СРБ) as members of the Board. All terms are effective as of 19 March 2015.

 

‘We are honoured to welcome Giovanni as the new Chair of the Board, as well as Elisabeth and Danko as new members of the Board’ said Peter Van Roste, General Manager of CENTR. ‘Giovanni is a dynamic leader with a distinguished record in the domain name industry. Elisabeth and Danko are also respected experts in their field. Their knowledge and experience will bring a fresh perspective to our organisation.’
 
Giovanni Seppia, External Relations manager at EURid, was first elected as member of the Board in February 2012. He has 15 years of experience in the country code top level domain industry. He was External Relations manager at the .it registry until 2004, has been CENTR General Manager, ICANN Liaison Manager for Europe and has joined EURid in 2007. He has three years of experience in various roles at the European Commission.
 
Elisabeth Ekstrand is Secretary of the .SE Board and Head of Legal and Policy. Previously, she worked in the telecommunication and internet sectors, and operated her own law firm before joining .SE in 2005.
 
Danko Jevtović has been CEO of RNIDS (.rs/.СРБ) since 2013. He has been involved in the reform of the former Yugoslav national registry since 2000. Danko has been an IT entrepreneur since the late 1980’s and he has co-founded the Jugodata and SezamPro companies.
 
CENTR extends a sincere thank you to the outgoing Board Chair Peter Vergote (.be) and Board member Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder (.se) for their dedication, time and efforts. CENTR further congratulates the newly elected Board Chair and member and wishes them great success in their new positions.

ICANN: Clarification to Pre-Delegation Testing Specifications

The PDT provider has updated the PDT test specifications and supporting resources. The notable changes to the test specifications are summarized below, and focus on the DNS testing and the IDN tests. The changes to the test cases are intended to increase clarity of the requirements for the Registry operators.

 

In addition to modifying some of the test cases, registry operators should note the PDT provider has added a test node to their system that must be accepted by the registry’s systems.  Please see the Input Data Instructions for further information.

 

Below is a brief summary of the changes included in this release (v.2.6):

  • A new Test Case (DNS36) has been added to the DNSSEC test suite.
  • The IDN testing has been enhanced with the following changes:
    • Test Case IDNvalid03 has been clarified.
    • Two new Test Cases, IDNvalid09 and IDNvalid10, have been added.
    • IDNvalid08 has been renamed to IDNvalid11.
  • Minor clarifications to two test cases in the Documentation testing.
  • The Input Data Instructions has been updated:
    • A new test node has been added to the list of test nodes that applicant systems must accept.
    • The IDN section has been updated to match the changes to the Test Cases.
  • The EPP system has been enhanced to accept up to four levels of nested extensions (two additional than prior version). To accommodate this enhancement, the XML schema for the pdtepp.xml file has been updated.
  • The FAQ has been updated.

For changes to the test cases, redline documents have been provided to highlight the changes to users.

Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ : 76 Domains Removed from Delegation in February,2015

According to the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ , 76 domain names were removed from delegation in February 2015.

” In February of 2015, registrars received 104 requests from the company Group-IB to remove the domain names of violators from delegation. As a result, 76 domain names were removed.

Of the 28 names now delegated, 14 were unblocked through normal procedures after their owners eliminated the reasons they were locked. Unlocking was conducted at the request of CERT-GIB. Registrars made no move with regard to the remaining three domain names, which will now be blocked in accordance with the regulations.

Most of the violating domain names were phishing resources (49 percent), while the smallest share consisted of botnet controllers (11 percent). “
