Abstract: The 21st century is being nourished in the shadow of a borderless system, known as internet. It has been beneficial to all in every walk of their lives. If we have to send a letter, we do not move to the nearby post-office, rather switch on our computer and log into our email to send the mail. We do not bother to rush to the railway or airport agents to book our tickets; rather we get it booked through internet. In a nutshell, internet has revolutionised the system of our day-to-day lives and communications world like nothing before. It has acquired a significant place in our lives.
Also, it has emerged as a world-wide broadcasting capability, a mechanism for information dissemination, and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals without any border. The growing use of internet in the present world can be witnessed by the survey reports of various agencies. The survey report of 2012, submitted by the Internet World Stats, reveals of all the internet users across the globe, the majority belonged to Asia with 44.8% of the total internet users in 2012.

Samsung Becomes First Company to Sign a dot-brand gTLD Contract
Samsung has signed its first Registry Agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) ,covering the new gTLD .삼성 .
The string means “Samsung” in native Korean .
Even thoough Samsung’s .삼성 application has priority number 18,it’s the first company to sign a Registry Agreement for a dot-brand gTLD.This could mean that .삼성 will be the first dot-brand TLD to go live on the Internet .
This is the 48th new gTLD contract ICANN has signed .
Google Files Complaint Over Play-Google.co Domain Name
Google has filed a UDRP ,seeking control of Play-Google.co domain name.The complaint was filed with the National Arbitration Forum a few days ago.
According to whois records,the domain name was first registered in May,2013.
The National Arbitration Forum will examine if Play-Google.co domain is confusingly similar to Google’s trademark,if the current owner has rights over it and if the domain is being used in bad faith .The disputed domain name will be passed over to Google if it falls under all three of these stipulations.
The case is still pending compliance checks with the National Arbitration Forum .
.CO Launching IDNs For Eight European Languages In October
.CO Internet has announced they will be launching registrations for .co domains in eight European languages on 15 October.
The eight European Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) being launched are Russian, German, French, Portuguese, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian and Hungarian. Spanish is already available being the language of Colombia.
Since January, .CO has launched 15 IDN language tables due to their belief that IDNs can be an important building block towards creating a multilingual internet. The accessibility of additional global languages in the .CO namespace is intended to increase local interest and use.
There are now over 1.5 million .co domain names following their relaunch three years ago.
The launch date is 15 October 2013, 00:00:00 UTC and includes all .CO domains – .co, .com.co, .net.co and .nom.co.
The .CO Registry will not be conducting a formal trademark sunrise, landrush or grandfathering period for IDNs.

ICANN: Final Community Priority Evaluation Guidelines Published
In advance of Community Priority Evaluation (CPE) commencing, ICANN has published final CPE Evaluation Guidelines to ensure quality, consistency and transparency in the evaluation process.
The CPE Guidelines are an accompanying document to the Applicant Guidebook, and are meant to provide additional clarity around the process and scoring principles outlined in the AGB. The Guidelines do not modify the framework or standards laid out in the AGB.

The CPE Evaluation Guidelines were developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the firm selected to perform CPE. On 16 August 2013 ICANN posted a draft version of the document for community comment. This version was given careful consideration by EIU and takes into account all feedback from the community.
CPE Invitations will be sent to eligible applicants as early as the week of 30 September.
