DNS Belgium Announces Website Revamp
DNS Belgium, the company behind .BE domain extension, has launched its new revamped website. The website displays now all the information you need about DNS Belgium and their products in one place.
You can read the announcement after the jump:
“As you will notice immediately, dnsbelgium.be has been given a total facelift, from top to toe. It now also includes the various individual product sites so that you can find all of the information you need about DNS Belgium and our products at 1 website.
DNS Belgium is a company that is developing all the time – which you will also notice from our communication. We are now on the point of launching .vlaanderen and .brussels and as you can imagine, we have a lot to tell you about them. The arrival of these new extensions also means that DNS Belgium will be growing further as a company and consequently will be putting its message across to new Internet users. It is for this reason that we have decided to amalgamate all of our various sites into one clearly organised, easy-to-use website.
We have retained all of the same information as before, but have adjusted the way it is divided up.
The heading of ‘domain name’ features everything about domain names, how to register and manage a domain name and where you can come with any legal questions you may have.
‘Products’ gives you more background about .be, as well as detailed information about the launch phases for .vlaanderen and .brussels.
We also now have a well-stocked ‘knowledge bank’, where you will find various reports, our figures and Frequently Asked Questions.
You will no doubt have noticed the large search bar on our homepage, which you can use to find out the availability of a domain name. If the name is still unregistered, you can then ask a registrar to register it for you. However, if the domain name you want is taken, you will see a link to the WHOIS data. At the present time, of course, this is for .be domain names only. As soon as .vlaanderen and .brussels have been launched, you will receive details of availability for all 3 extensions. Straightforward and easy to understand!”

Dots.com Domain Name Sells For $335,000
The domain name Dots.com was sold for $335,000 by Hilco Streambank to an individual investor. The rest of the package was sold to New Dots LLC for $326,000.
According to whois records, the domain name was first registered in 1995.
According to Jack Hazan, Hilco Streambank Executive Vice President :
“It was fascinating that the domain actually sold for more than the rest of the IP, which included established trademarks and a strong customer database. The auction was very active with many rounds of bidding. Bids started at 100,000 for the domain alone and went up in 10,000 increments. Another domain bidder dropped out at 260,000 and the winner was bid up further by the package bidders. The package winner outbid our stalking horse bidder – Rainbow Shops. The sale is scheduled to be approved by the bankruptcy court next week.”
Congratulations to both the seller and the buyer.

ICANN: Independent Review Panel Decision on Hold/Stay Regarding .Africa
An ICANN Independent Review Panel has issued a decision [PDF, 7.80 MB] that ICANN should hold off from further processing of ZA Central Registry’s (ZACR) application for the .AFRICA TLD for the time being. This will allow the Panel time to consider arguments from DotConnectAfrica Trust (DCA Trust) and ICANN on DCA Trust’s claims regarding the .AFRICA TLD.
The interim relief granted today is not a ruling on the merits of DCA Trust’s claims against ICANN, nor can it be used to forecast the success of DCA Trust’s claims. DCA Trust initiated its Independent Review Process (IRP) after its application for the .AFRICA string was not approved by ICANN. The DCA Trust/ICANN IRP will continue along the defined process. Documents related to the IRP are available at www.icann.org/en/news/irp/dca-v-icann.
The IRP is one of the accountability review processes set out in the ICANN Bylaws. For an understanding of how ICANN’s accountability review processes work, including the IRP, please view the infographic.
