“On 27 October, HRH Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands was appointed as Chair of the SIDN Fund’s Advisory Panel. The Fund was formally established in early May by SIDN, the company behind .nl. Starting early next year, the new body is to provide financial support for projects with the potential to further increase the economic and social value of the internet in the Netherlands. Made up of experts and internet community representatives, the Advisory Panel’s role will be to support the Fund, particularly with the assessment of project proposals.
Prince Constantijn
Since 10 February 2010, Prince Constantijn has been a member of the cabinet of Neelie Kroes, European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, becoming Head of Cabinet in April 2013. Before joining Kroes’s team, the prince headed up the RAND Corporation’s Brussels office and RAND Europe’s Information Economics Policy team. He has also worked as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel supports the SIDN Fund’s CEO and Board by providing advice and assistance with realisation of the Fund’s objectives. In particular, the Panel gives advice as to which projects are eligible for financial support. It is made up of experts and representatives of the Dutch internet community. Valerie Frissen, CEO of the SIDN Fund said, “The Board and I are very pleased that the prince has made himself available for this challenging role. Prince Constantijn has played an important role in the European debate on the future and security of the internet. His expertise will help us expedite realisation of the objective for which the Fund was created: to finance projects that will make a difference to the Netherlands.”
What is the SIDN Fund?
The SIDN Fund will provide financial support to projects that promote innovation, education, research, security and trust, application reach and constructive use of the internet in the Netherlands. The SIDN Fund seeks to contribute to the prosperity and welfare of the Netherlands by increasing the economic and social value of the internet. The Fund has a starting capital of five million euros, and SIDN plans to provide a structural income.”
.LTDA – Limitadas – Starts First Registration Phase
The first registration phase for .LTDA is starting: As of October 29, 15:00 (UTC), trademark owners can register domains matching their trademarks. One of the registration requirements is an entry in the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), a kind of digital brand database.
The domain extension .LTDA (“Limitada”) is aimed at companies that operate as “Sociedade Limitada” in Portuguese speaking countries or as “Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada” or “Compañía de Responsabilidad Limitada” in the Spanish speaking world – which corresponds approximately to LTD in the English speaking world. There are around six million of these companies in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia alone.
The introduction of the new domain extension proceeds in two phases: From October 29 to November 28, 2014, there will be a 30-day “Start Date Sunrise” period on a first-come-first-served basis. During this time, trademark owners can protect their trademarks under .LTDA and register domains matching their brands. The trademarks must have been previously verified through the Trademark Clearinghouse. Trademark owners can appoint so-called TMCH agents for the entry in the TMCH. Agents usually review and submit the data to the centrally managed TMCH brand database and ensure a fast order processing.
Starting from December 2, 2014, .LTDA will be freely available to any “Limitada” during the General Availability or Live phase.
The new extension opens up new opportunities for businesses to present themselves on the Web. Companies can, for example, secure domains that exactly match their name: If a company has so far been using the address www.companyname-ltda.com.br for their homepage, for example, they can now use the shorter and more catchy domain www.companyname.ltda with the start of .LTDA. Another advantage of the new extension: A .LTDA domain will not automatically be associated with a specific country, but is understood by users throughout all of Latin America. This can become a competitive advantage in this large and dynamic market.
In addition, the public procurement regulations of .LTDA require that only LTDAs registered with the competent authorities are allowed to register a domain under this extension. This helps .LTDA become a seal of quality, allowing companies to present themselves as reliable partners online.

Arab.com
Dubai.net
Kuwait.com
Iraq.com
Iraq.net
Doha.com
Nas.com
With 41% of the world’s population now online and growing fast, many consumers are turning to brandable “One Word” domain names for their trusted source of information online.
Tourism globally is expected to rise to 1.8 trillion US Dollars in 2018; according the WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council), so the importance for geographical domain names has steadily increased in value.
Many online travel companies and private investors firms acquiring premium geographical domain names are surely looking to take advantage of this positive growth in the travel and tourism industry.
These Arabian domain names are vital in today’s online landscape, as they are Countries, Cities and top key locations for holidaymakers worldwide. Breathe Luxury is proud to be auctioning these Arabian dot com’s which is perceived as the leading source of information online, as .com is king and recognised globally. A geographical .com can dominate a regions communication to a global audience, with huge scope for reaching new consumers year after year.
Breathe Luxury has noticed that some of the biggest countries that are behind promoting the travel and tourism for the region do not own their .com, .net or .tv.
Broker and Consultant, Mr Jag Singh from Breathe Luxury says “Geographical (geo) domains don’t come into the aftermarket very often and when they do, it’s not long till they are snapped up by private investors. The aftermarket is not known to everyone; however Breathe Luxury is now giving the Travel Industry the opportunity to acquire these domains via our auction. Our aim is to make the web more relevant and by doing a travel related domain auction, which will give everyone an opportunity, from investors to industry leaders”
Breathe luxury will be exhibiting at World Travel Market from the 3rd – 6th November in London, ExCel, with the intention to inform and educate the travel industry about the importance of having the right domain name for their business to increase market share in the travel industry.
Mr Jag Singh states “It is absolutely vital to give the travel sector the opportunity to increase their market share and capture their audience affectively via a geographical domain name such as Dubai.net, Kuwait.com, and Doha.com”
Here a few ideas from Mr Jag Singh on these fantastic Arabian domain names on auction…
Arab.com is one of the most prestigious domain names for the people in the region and for Arabs worldwide. This would make a great social hub, media outlet in communicating news and information to the Arab community globally.
With the World Cup taking place in Doha, Doha.com would be highly brandable for capturing and branding this great city, which the world would love to know more about before planning trips to the games.
The URL Dubai.net could be redirected to one of the leading hotel websites in the region, or be the official site for tourism. Dubai.net could be used for promoting holidays, hotels, real estate, or businesses within one of the most incredible cities in the world.
The Breathe Luxury Domain Auction will include the most talked about domain name in the travel market, which some are calling it the “Holy Grail” for the travel Industry, Holiday.com. Other domain names up for auction are Journey.com, Paradise.com, GolfCourses.com and many others. This will surely be a first at this year’s World Travel Market and once the hammer drops it is likely we will never see these domain names reappear in the domain aftermarket.
Breathe luxury has officially announced their starting bids for the upcoming domain auction which will commence online from the 3rd November at 9am GMT and will be closing live, from World Travel Market on the 5th November at 5:30pm GMT. Bidders will have the opportunity to bid from the breathe luxury website www.BreatheLuxury.com/Auction.
