Germany’s .DE Approaching Another Milestone : 16 Million .DE Domain Names
DENIC, the company behind .DE extension is approaching another milestone: 16 million domain name registrations under .DE.The company achieved the 15,5 millionth milestone in 2012.
DENIC registered the 14 millionth .de domain name on 26 November 2010 and the 15 millionth .de domain name on April 18,2012.This means that in less than six months, almost 500,000 .DE domain names were registered .
There are 15,872,643 .DE domains registered up to date,according to the most recent figures on DENIC’s website.
The annual average growth rate of the recent years has been about 1 million domain names,which is an impressive number .Moreover,at the end of October/beginning of November 2010,domain growth gained particular momentum through the introduction of the special character eszett, ß .

A company’s domain name is intrinsically tied to its brand and service delivery – making it an extremely important digital asset. Several high-profile brands have previously lost control of their valuable online properties and faced significant brand damage as a result.

While the exact cause of the Lenovo hacking is yet to be confirmed, reports have widely linked the Attack Vector to the Registrar serving both the Lenovo and Google Vietnam domains.
The fact of the matter is, you don’t have to be a big brand to be vulnerable to this kind of attack – and it can have significant impacts on your brand and your bottom line.
A matter of time?
Commentators say hackers are using more creative methods such as phishing in their attacks on companies that fail to increase security measures.
For example, Marco Chiappetta wrote for Forbes for example that we can “expect things to get worse” and that taking steps to protect your online assets is vital.
“The only way to solve these problems is to educate the population and to ensure everything possible is being done to protect sensitive data…. Don’t skimp on man-power or technology when it comes to security,” he wrote.

Google Files Complaint for GoogleTranslate.com Domain Name
Google,has recently filed a complaint against the owner of GoogleTranslate.com domain name,seeking control of it.
Google filed the complaint with the National Arbitration Forum on March 13,2015.
According to whois records, the domain name was first registered in July,2004.
The National Arbitration Forum will examine over the next days if the domain name is confusingly similar to Google’s trademark,if the current owner has rights over it and if the domain is being used in bad faith . GoogleTranslate.com will be passed over to Google if it falls under all three of these stipulations.
At the time of writing this article, the case is still pending compliance checks with the National Arbitration Forum.
