How are obscure extensions perceived around the world?

The question arose as I was researching names for a somewhat philanthropic, worldwide connect. As always, I've found handfuls of names that would work if the audience was US, Europe, or equivalent.

The problem arises when focusing countries where English language barriers are higher — and 1-2 word, 8-15 character domains are more challenging to relay. I'd like to use an extremely basic, universal 4-5 letter word without spending $30k+ on something not meant to profit from….
