Torrentz.eu Domain Name Suspended Following UK Police Request

Following a request from the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit in the United Kingdom, the domain name Torrentz.eu has been suspended.

According to TorrentFreak.com, the website still operates at two other domain names (Torrentz.ch and Torrentz.me),at the time of writing this article. Moreover, the company is hoping to move the .EU domain name to another registrar.

The UK Police and copyright holders have been working together over the past few months in order to shut down websites that provide links to pirated content. In this case, the UK Police has sent out a request to the domain name’s registrar, asking the registrar to suspend Torrentz.eu.

This is a major hit for the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unite, as Torrentz.eu is one of the largest torrent sites on the Internet and has millions of visitors every day. However, there’s a good chance that Torrentz will transfer to a new registrar as soon as posible or even get its domain name unsuspended.

The City of London Police Intellectual Property Crime announced a month ago that more than 2,500 domain names linked to counterfeit material have been suspended thus far.
