Occupy Wall Street Spends $8,000 on OccupyWallStreet.net Domain Name

The Occupy Wall Street movement decided not to spend $ 150,000 on Occupy.com,but to spend only $ 8,000 on OccupyWallStreet.net domain name .According to whois records, the domain name was registered on September 23,2011 by a man from Florida .OccupyWallStreet.net domain name registration has privacy protection on it and is currently redirecting to OccupyWallSt.org .

According to a post from The Atlantic Wire ,the man who offered to sell the domain name to Occupy Wall Street offered to sell it for $ 10,000.

“After many phone calls and negotiations with the current owner of the domain ,we have settled on a price of $ 8,000 .While this may seem like a large number to some,it is actually extremely reasonable considering the traffic that such a domain could generate and the amount of donations income that is sure to follow. In other words, this site will pay for itself in no time,”said the groups in the draft proposal .

Occupy Wall Street organizers said that is out of question for the time being to buy Occupy.com .However,it is possible to purchase the domain name later if the group will raise more funds .
