ICANN started accepting applications for new gTLDs on January 12,2012.Moreover,ICANN announced that it will not reveal who the applicants are and who has applied for which domain name until early May,2012. The application period will close April 12,2012 .

Last week,ICANN announced that it has 290 registered users in its Top-Level Domain Application System. This means that it has added 266 new gTLD applicants in a week.
