Norwegian Domain Names Available for Everyone starting June 17,2014

Norid, the company behind .NO domain extension, announced that .NO domain names will be also available to private individuals starting June 17,2014.

This means that everyone in Norway can register their own .NO domain name starting on 17 June 2014.

This decision was made after this recommendation was presented in a public consultation during the winter of 2014. Almost 500 individuals and organizations were part of the consultation and a clear majority supported Norpol’s (the policy advisory board for .NO) view.

Everyone will have an equal opportunity when the allocations begins, on Tuesday 17 June 2014 at 10 AM local time. There will not be any priorities on private domain name.This means that everyone in Norway can apply for a .NO domain name. However , you have to be sure that the domain you want to register isn’t in violation of Norwegian law or a third party’s right.
