NiRA Closing In On Another Milestone : 60,000 .NG Domain Names

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA),the company behind .NG extension, is approaching 60,000 domain name registrations under .NG.

.NG became available to public registration in 2012.NiRA’s president, Mary Uduma, said that between January and August 2014, 12,513 domain names were registered.Moreover, between January and August 2014, there was also a slight increase of almost 1000 renewals,bringing this year’s total renewals to 8,246.

 “Although the number appears impressive, Nigeria is still scratching the surface in terms of registered individuals and organisations and called for more registration of the country’s domain name,” said Mary Uduma, NiRA’s president.

“With the 11, 075 domain names registered this year alone, NIRA would be getting close to 60,000 registered .ng domain names, since it began the campaign to populate domain name registration in the country in 2012,” Uduma added.
