New Improvements on the Comments Process with ICANN

Having received recommendations from the Governmental Advisory Committee, ICANN decided to operate some changes to the “Authorization Process for the Release of Two-Character ASCII Labels”. These improvements concern the possibility of alerting governments when requested and the receiving of comments from them.

Reglementations about comments periods have been made, ranging from 60 to 90 days, depending on how recent the requests are. There are also improvements on how the users will navigate on the reviewing page.

For example, they will be able to sort requests by reference number, date and name. The requests are now available for download in .csv format. And there is a possibility to see now if a TLD received a .BRAND specification. Last, but not least, comments can be viewed in a calendar year, not in a month by month way, as it was until now.
