” Moniker®, a KeyDrive S. A. company and top ten worldwide domain name registrar, announced today their support of the dotHIV Association and their contributions to the HIV/AIDS prevention, research, and awareness campaigns. Along with their German based sister company, Key-Systems, Moniker will support the dotHIV initiative through several avenues. As the .HIV domain is set to launch, Moniker will conduct a fundraising campaign tied directly to registrations of the .HIV domain name. Additionally, the extension will be offered below cost while at the same time provided free of charge to organizations who participate in the HIV/AIDS community as a non-profit. These organizations can benefit from the increased visibility for their campaign through use of the .HIV domain to help drive awareness and garner support for their cause.
“Moniker is committed to raising awareness in support of dotHIV and their cause. Through the active promotion of the Top-Level Domain, we can assist in driving positive change for those effected by HIV and AIDS,” commented Craig Snyder, CEO of Moniker and SnapNames.“ Participating as a registrar partner for dotHIV allows us to contribute in ways beyond just financial contributions. Leveraging our brand, products, and services, we have the unique opportunity to directly support those who make a difference while at the same time increasing awareness.”
dotHIV offers a unique platform to raise funds and awareness. The revenues from the domain sale go into a fund. With every click on a .hiv domain the visitor triggers a micro-donation out of this fund. End-users decide with their voice where the money goes. The donations are allocated to HIV-projects on an Internet platform, where projects and initiatives can gather support. The Internet users decide in a voting process, how exactly the donations are distributed. dotHIV guarantees a minimum of 70% of their income goes to charity, and aim at 80% or more in the longer term.”
