ICANN Conducts Inquiry About Security Problem

ICANN revealed what it seems to be a breach into their GDD portals systems, which was possible using the login data of nineteen users by the intruders. Specialists from two reviewing companies have analyzed the log data since April 2013 and the results show that the unauthorized access could have included attachments, too.

The next action ICANN intends to take is informing the users whose data were affected and inquiry the people that accessed the files about their intentions and purposes when they performed such actions. They will also be asked to erase any of the files they may have downloaded into their computers.

ICANN acknowledges the gravity of this incident and promises to take measures in order that it will not happen again. Their main focus remains their users data security and all their efforts will be in order to reach this objective.

According to their spokesman, ICANN will continue to monitor the status of their systems to be able to ensure the best services possible.
