Hobart.com sells for $67,000

Hobart.com domain name was sold for $67,000,after being purchased five years ago,in 2007 for online $875 .The seller said that this is a bargain price .

The new owner is Barkhos, led by Hamish Palmer, according to SmartCompany.com.au,the webiste who broke the news.

The seller said that the domain name was sold for a bagain price because it is very difficult to develop a geographic-based domain name.

“Everybody knows Hobart.com.au, but it’s actually quite hard to develop because people are looking for all different things. If you buy ‘car insurance’ then people know what you’re doing, but Hobart.com.au is a lot broader,” said David Lye.

“That actually makes it quite hard to develop as a website,” he added .
