Dot Kiwi Limited applies for .KIWI extension

Dot Kiwi Limited has recently applied for a .KIWI domain name .Tim Johnson,Dot Kiwi CEO said that he is hoping the new extension to resonate with New Zealanders both locally and globally .

Applications for new websites domain names opened last week,on January 12,2012 .The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) decided to accept new generic top-level domain names in June,2011 .

The company Dot Kiwi Limited was formed by a group of people from New Zealanders based in Vancouver.The Board of directors includes Peter Dengate Thrush,a well known internet lawyer .Peter Dengate Thrush has been the past chairs of both ICANN and Internet New Zeland .

“I was keen to provide a way for New Zealanders around the world to connect and claim their Kiwiness online,” said Tim Johnson,Dot Kiwi CEO .

He also said that a percentage of the revenue from the sale of .KIWI domains will be donated .

If the application for the .KIWI extension will be approved the domain name will be available for sale in early 2013 .
