China.com Reported Sold for $11,7 Million

According to an article from SCMP.com, China.com has been relaunched. The article also states that the domain name was sold for 90,800,000 Hong Kong Dollars, meaning $11,7 million.

 

According to whois records, the domain name was first registered in 1994. According to SCMP.com, China Radio International is the new owner and China.com Inc. is the seller. The domain name HongKong.com was also acquired.

The domain name seems to have changed hands in August,2013.

This is one of the highest reported sales of all times. Insurance.com sold for $35,6 million in 2010 and VacationRentals.com sold for more than $30 million.

China.com is also the most expensive .com domain carrying a sovereign nation’s name. Korea.com was sold for $5 million in 2000, while Russia.com sold for $1,5 million in 2009.
