“Starting Dot Ltd. today announced that 20 global domain name registrars have signed its Registry Registrar Agreement to offer the .ARCHI new community gTLD, scheduled to launch in April 2014, and is negotiating with another twenty.
Skepticism from certain circles in the domain name industry on the attractiveness of new community gTLDs seems entirely unfounded as registrars see the market potential of Starting Dot’s community-orientated TLDs.
The first 20 registrars include:

Starting Dot, the registry operator for .ARCHI and .BIO, sole applicant for .SKI and in contention for .IMMO, has proved that with the right strategy, communities can be engaged and excited and feel secure knowing there is a domain name extension solely dedicated to them. Through investment in outreach, millions of architects, practices and associated businesses globally are aware that .ARCHI is the sole dedicated TLD for the architectural community. .ARCHI also has the backing of the International Union of Architects(UIA), which represents and has access to 1.3 million architects worldwide, along with globally recognized names in the architectural community, such as Paul Andreu.
The combination of effective marketing, outreach and endorsements means .ARCHI has name ID in the marketplace, something missing from many new gTLD launches and evident in lackluster registration numbers from some with easily identified communities. Registrars recognize this successful model and are hurrying to sign the .ARCHI RRA and additional TLDs because of Starting Dot’s skill in engaging communities through marketing, education and community participation.
“We’ve been able to demonstrate to registrars that with the right marketing support, endorsements and community policies, they can attract highly qualified and motivated customers,” said Godefroy Jordan, CEO of Starting Dot. “We’re now seeing other new gTLD applicants try to emulate our community marketing approach, validating our strategy.”
