Amazon Wins Rights to .Book Top Level Domain Name

Amazon has just won the battle for the new gTLD .Book.The company managed to knock out its eight other rivals,including Google.

Yesterday, R.R. Bowker LLC , the final remaining applicant for the new gTLD .Book,withdrew their application, leaving Amazon the only applicant for the new gTLD and the winer of the auction.

Other applicants for the new gTLD .Book include Global Domain Registry, Google, Minds + Machines, Donuts,Famous Four and .Straat.

The final price paid for .Book will not be disclosed beacuse the auction was a private one.Rumors say that the new gTLD will be more expensive than .Buy, for which Amazon paid $4,6 million.
