AFNIC To Attend ICANN 50 in London on June 22 to June 26,2014

Afnic, the company behind .FR extension,announced recently that it will attend ICANN’s 50th meeting, to be held in London on June 22 to June 26,2014.

“ICANN is holding its 50th meeting. Afnic will be taking part in the event, which brings together stakeholders in domain names from around the world.

The fiftieth meeting of ICANN, the organization with global responsibility for allocating domain names on the Internet, will be held in London from June 22 to 26, and attended by several thousand people (representatives of government bodies, professionals and civil society stakeholders) in various think tanks and working groups.

The evolution of ICANN and particularly the transition of the IANA function are listed on the agenda, as well as the future of the Whois database or that of ATLAS, the ICANN At-Large Summit.

Afnic will take part in all of these discussions as the spokesperson for its members and to defend its vision of an Internet open to innovations and respectful of the rights of each user.

Afnic also intends to give the French ccTLD pride of place on its stand as well as the French geoTLDs for which it provides the technical management (.paris, .bzh, .alsace, .aquitaine and .corsica).”
