Islamic State Uses .IS Domain Name

The Islamic State register a domain name under .IS . The domain name resolves to a website that features photos and videos from the Islamic State.

The domain name is khilafah.is.

According to whois records, the domain name was registered on September 14 by Azym Abdullah.

The Icelandic Gorvernment is looking for a way to shut down the site. However, shutting down the site is not as simple as someone may think.

The domain name is registered with ISNIC.

UPDATE :  The website was shut down by ISNIC. This is the first time ISNIC has taken a decision like this.
