Nominet Confirms Launch of .Wales and .Cymry in September

Nominet announced recently that business and consumers will be able to acquire a .Wales and .Cymru domain name begining this September .

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has recently signed a contract giving both .Cymru and .Wales the go-ahead. This means that those who want to demonstrate their Welsh identity, language and culture online will be able to register a .wales and .Cymru domain name .

The first phase begins 1st September,2014 and allows those with a registered trademark to register their .wales or .cymru domain name.The next phase will allos businesses and organisation who can prove interest and use of a brand in Wales and don’t have a trademark to register a domain name ending in .wales and .cymru.The final phase will allow everybody to register a domain name ending in .cymru and .wales and will begin March 1st 2015.
