Hewlett-Packard Wins HP.nu in a UDRP decision at WIPO
Hewlett-Packard has recently won the transfer of the two letter ccTLD in a UDRP decision at World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Even though the respondent tried to say that he registered many other short .NU domains and he was not targeting HP , the Penl ruled in favor of Hewlett-Packard.Moreover, the respondent said that Nunames announced a promotion to former clients to register up to 30 optional .NU domain names free of charge. On that occasion ,the respondent registered fifteen two-character domain names, including ae.nu, .ag.nu, by.nu and pg.nu .He also argued that HP was short for “högskoleprovet”, a Swedish university entrance exam.
Even though the domain name redirects to a website full of information about the exam, this isn’t what the domain was used for when HP filed the complaint. Back then, the domain name was full of ads for HP technology products.
