DotShabaka First gTLD To Launch Sunrise Period
The DotShabaka Registry quietly launched the Sunrise period for their شبكة. gTLD (.shabaka translates to .web in English) on 31 October for 60 days. The gTLD, an open space for Arabic language domain names, is the first gTLD to launch their Sunrise period.
In their Launch Policy available on their website, DotShabaka notes the Sunrise will run for 60 days, concluding on 29 December. Then the Landrush Period will run for 30 days until 31 January with General Availability commencing on 4 February 2014.
But they are likely to be joined by a number of gTLDs from Donuts this week. Donuts, who applied for 307 gTLDs, are said to be planning to launch Sunrise periods for up to eleven of their gTLDS and for which there are no other applicants. The likely eleven are:

- .camera
- .clothing
- .equipment
- .estate
- .guru
- .holdings
- .lighting
- .singles
- .ventures
- .voyage.
There are also another 17 gTLDs Donuts have slated for Sunrise launches by early December. The Sunrise period, which is likely to be for 60 days, is to allow trademark holders to register desired domains that include their trademark. The Sunrise period for the first of the Donuts gTLDs was due to commence this week however no final announcement has been made.
Following the Sunrise period, gTLD operators will then be required to hold a Landrush period, which for the first gTLDs, is likely to start in January 2014 and then General Availability can commence.
