Auction Results for .PING and .SRL Strings

Dispute between applicants for .PING and .SRL strings had to be solved by an authorized auction provider, since they could not come to an agreement amiably. This is the last measure ICANN can take according to Module 4 contained in the Program Applicant Guidebook. Thus, the winner of the auction who meets all the requirements in order to be eligible, is entitled to sign a Registry Agreement for gTLD operation.

In case of .PING, the participant who won was Ping Registry Provider, Inc, who will pay $1.501.000 and the .SRL string was allocated to mySRL GmbH for the sum of $400.000. The next step is a decision from ICANN’s Board of Directors who is expected to produce a plan for the use of funds after the community is consulted.

Other auctions are expected to be resorted to every month during the rest of 2015.
